I don't really know any "panfish" patterns. We don't really have them back home (that I know of).

Any suggestions? Something that doesn't include weaving marabou?

I'm in and will tie up some foam-backed humpies.

@QT - When the sun starts to goes down, pannies are very receptive to things that float and have legs. Small (#10 Mustad 94840) foam spiders and hoppers work well.

Whatever you call it, it's an awesome looking fly and the pannies should love it.

Is the foam supposed to make it float or should the fly go subsurface when stripped and rise up on the pause?

Don't know if the foam is to make it do anything except me reading you guys's mention of foam, so I decided to add some. Brought a big foam insert for computer box from the Office and measured and cut small rectangle strips and tied it on then trimmed it.

The foam colour looked right.

I haven't tried in in the water.
